Because this is the Christmas season, rather than focus on strictly agricultural issues, we thought we might instead focus on all the blessings that we Americans enjoy, and for which many of us do not have full appreciation:
- Freedom to worship or not to worship, and not worry about resulting repercussions.
- Freedom to freely congregate and express our opinions.
- Freedom to rise (or fall) within an open economy that rewards merit.
- Founding Fathers that were not politicians, but statesman who wanted only the best for our country, and therefore gave us a Constitution and Bill of Rights.
- A history that becomes habit to work hard, raise and protect family, give and receive, and leave the world a better place---hopefully.
- Backbone to stand up to aggression, but rarely engage in it ourselves unless unduly provoked.
- A population that looks after not only itself, but also after others, especially those of less fortune. This has been exemplary during our current recession.
- Abundance.
Yes, we have our warts, but everything is relative, so if feeling dreary this Christmas, look around the world.
Next blog, we will get back to business!!!
And have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from all of us at Scythe & Spade.
